Girl killed in gas pipeline explosion.
KARACHI -- A six-year-old girl died while her parents and three siblings were injured as their house in Nusrat Bhutto Colony collapsed due to a gas pipeline rupture late on Wednesday night, according to police.
Sir Syed SHO Mukhtiar Panhwar told Dawn that the gas pipeline passing through the house exploded, as a result, the house spread over 45 yards fell completely.
'Resultantly, the couple and their four children came under its debris,' he said.
Rescue services rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and then to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi where the six-year-old, Sania, succumbed to her injuries.
'The couple Mohammed Anwar, 40, and Afza and their three other children namely, Umair, 5; Bisma, 8; and Saher, 15; are injured but they are out of danger,' added the police officer.
He further said the accident took place in a slum where the house was constructed on a gas pipeline.
