Girl facing honour killing threat has a ' change of heart'.

A GIRL who had approached the Delhi High Court on Thursday, seeking protection from an alleged honour killing threat from her family, has now had a sudden change of heart. On Friday, she told the court that she was no more interested in marrying boyfriend Ravi Soni.

At the same time, she insisted that she still loved him and wanted to give birth to the child that was conceived during their three- month long relationship.

Though it is not clear what prompted this change of heart, Justice S. N. Dhingra felt she may have been threatened.

He said it was apparent that she was afraid for her safety and the safety of her loved ones.

" Her real mother lives in a village in Uttar Pradesh while her brother is working in Delhi and lives in the same house. It is to be noted that at present she stays with her father and stepmother against whom, she has an apprehension of danger," he noted.

The girl and her boyfriend -- he is in judicial custody after her parents filed a case alleging rape -- were produced before the court.

Justice Dhingra decided to record the girl's statement in his chamber after Kiran Singh, a Delhi High Court Legal Services Aid Authority counsel, submitted that she was scared to speak in front of her step- mother.

While disposing of the petition, the court provided the girl with police protection.

It asked the police to visit her residence once a day to ensure she was safe.
