Girl, 12, attacked.

A schoolgirl was assaulted while walking her dog on Saturday night.

The 12-year-old was near a close that runs from Scotts Street to Queensway in Annan when the incident happened at around 9pm.

Constable Scott Graham said: "The victim was not injured as a result of the assault, however was clearly shaken-up."

The youngster was able to give a good description of the man who carried out the unprovoked attack.

He was aged around 20, five feet two inches tall, well built, wearing brown trousers, white T-shirt and trainers. He is believed to have had a star cut into his short brown hair near to the right temple area.

PC Graham added:"I would ask anyone who believes they may know the identify of the attacker, or who witnessed the assault to contact Police Scotland on 101."

Shocked residents commented on social media sites after hearing of the incident.

One, Hilary Parke, wrote: "I'm very glad she wasn't physically injured but the shock and loss of confidence is something altogether different. She's given an excellent description of this lowlife: let's hope it leads to a speedy arrest."
