Gilchrist strikes gold for GB in breaststroke.

KRIS Gilchrist claimed Great Britain's third gold medal of the World Short-Course Championships when he just edged the 200 metres breaststroke in Manchester.

Mark Foster, Lizzie Simmonds and Fran Halsall all took silver while Robbie Renwick and Jo Jackson won bronze at the MEN Arena.

Gilchrist, of City of Edinburgh, battled it out with Ukrainian Igor Borysik, and the pair were neck and neck coming down the final length but the Scot touched out his opponent - winner of the 100m event - in 2mins 06.18secs.

Duje Draganja set a new world record of 20.81secs to beat Foster into second place in the 50m freestyle as the 37-year-old claimed his 47th international medal.
