Gift list guests to loose money.

WEDDING guests across the North East are hoping to get refunds after an online gift firm went into administration.

Wrapit allowed wedding guests to choose presents for couples from an online list, which were then bought and delivered accordingly.

But the firm, which had a branch in Fenwick, Newcastle, has run into financial trouble leaving thousands of customers up and down the country in limbo.

Wrapit's bank HSBC is proposing to ensure that guests who used credit cards receive a refund, but those who used Switch and Maestro debit cards or cheques may lose their money. North East customers who have already had orders processed face a 300-mile journey to London to collect gifts after all regional branches closed.

A statement on the Wrapit website said: "If the company does not hold goods specifically allocated to you, then it is not in a position to fulfil in total the wedding list."

Up to 100,000 wedding guests may gave been affected nationally.
