Getting Rich Off The Democrat

Robert Lee Jackson, who was apartment sales manager in the circulation department at the Arkansas Democrat, was making big bucks off the newspaper.

But his time ran out.

Jackson was arrested Jan. 8 for theft of property and forgery. For more than a year, he was taking the money the Democrat had promised to apartment complexes for referrals and using it himself. Subpoenas were issued to witnesses, including some area apartment managers, last week.

Jackson pled not guilty to the charges and is out on bond. A trial date has been set for Sept. 13.
