The certification follows comprehensive testing of standard thickness transparent Clarifoil film. Clarifoil already holds DIN EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 biodegradability accreditation, gained last year.
The further certification under home composting regulations gives Clarifoil the rare distinction of being a compostable material widely used for luxury product packaging which it is promoting to customers worldwide on a "luxury with a clear conscience" theme.
Clarifoil commercial director Gordon Willins said: "Perfume and beauty shoppers are as concerned for the environment as food consumers. The home compostability certificate in addition to our European and US biodegradability accreditations gives packaging and label producers who specify Clarifoil a very clear offering combining quality with excellent sustainability credentials."
In a further move to minimise waste to landfill, Clarifoil customers can order the thinnest film consistent with functional requirements, from a choice of 14 microns upwards.
