Get in position to learn yoga.

Byline: Report by James Vukmirovic Community News Reporter

A yoga teacher hopes to increase awareness of the exercise after celebrating World Yoga Day with an open session.

Punam Singh ran the session at her home in High Meadows, Tettenhall Wood, Wolverhampton after sending out leaflets to invite people to come along, with five people attending.

She said: "I moved here three months ago and wanted to start teaching yoga again, so I went into the community for the first time to invite people in. It was informal and free for everyone to come along and try and it was nice to meet new people interested in yoga." Those in attendance did a range of exercises, including Pranayama breathing techniques that use the full capacity of breathing, and Punam is keen for more people to take up yoga.

She said: "Yoga helps to make your mind and body clear of any diseases and stress, so I would like to start teaching this again.

"I think the yoga sessions will bring High Meadows people together and teach mind and body and peace and harmony." Future sessions are planned to take place on Saturday mornings in High Meadows park.

Anyone wanting to learn more about the sessions can e-mail Punam at punamg.k.singh@gmail.com
