Get fit the 2017 way: let technology help you meet your wellness goals.
CHANCES ARE, GETTING IN SHAPE IS ONE OF YOUR GOALS FOR 2017. We've got you covered with a strategy that includes sound fitness advice from Romy Antoine, founder of RippedNFit L.L.C., and some really cool fitness apps. Antoine is an ACE certified personal trainer, wellness specialist, and nutritionist.
Make a Meal Plan
People often underestimate the amount of food they eat, and they are shocked to see the scale creep up. At the start of each week, create a meal plan, and prepare your food accordingly.
The MyFitnessPal app is a great tool to help you keep track of every calorie you eat throughout the day, and set goals for how many you need to bum to reach your target weight. It can also be integrated with most fitness trackers, so you can have all your data in one place.
Use a Fitness Tracker
Fitness trackers have gained a lot of popularity over the past couple years. The Fitbit Charge is a wristband that counts your daily steps, tracks your heart rate, the calories you've burned, your sleep cycles, and so much more. The device puts this data into charts and graphs, so you can track your progress, and pinpoint where you need to improve to reach your goals.
Hire a Coach
A good coach can push you to the next level. They offer advice, encouragement, and can provide you with a detailed plan of action.
To find a coach, try using the Coach. Me app. With a database of more than 700 coaches and an accumulation of customer reviews, this app lets you choose exactly the type of trainer you need. It also allows you to message and schedule calls with your new coach.
If you want to do things on your own, try using the Fitness-Builder app. This app has thousands of workouts, which range from weight training, to boot camps, to yoga. It also has a library of exercise videos and pictures, to help you learn proper techniques. You can even drag-and-drop clips from its library of exercise videos and curate playlists to create personalized workout routines.
Get a Buddy
Having a partner hold you accountable can make all the difference between showing up or skipping the gym. The Workout Buddies app helps you find and connect with local workout partners.
If you're looking for something less traditional, try using a virtual accountability partner. Pact is an app that lets you make deals with other users about achieving your goals. For this app, you do need to put some money on the line, and if you fail to meet your workout target, you are required to pay the members of the group you make your pact with. However, if you stick to your goals, you get paid!
Join a Challenge
Stuck in a rut? Consider joining a fitness challenge or race to get fired up again. An obstacle course may be just hard enough to get you in shape, but fun enough to keep you motivated. Plus, you can do it with a team of friends! The Obstacle and Mud Race Finder app lets you search for all types of races in your area. You can even try out some smaller events, if you aren't ready for big brand-name ones, like the Spartan Race or the Tough Mudder: Mud Run.
