Get down with the Upper Room.

Derry-based family support agency The Upper Room will be hosting its fifth annual gala dinner and auction, 5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, at Promises To Keep in Derry.

"Rockin' Our Community" will bring back the Fabulous '50s with a gourmet dinner, music, games, and silent and live auctions.

More than 260 people attended last year's event, helping to raise an impressive $60,000.

"They just kept coming" said The Upper Room's Kim Bedard of last year's event. "We just had a great time. And Bill Burke is back again as auctioneer. Last year, he had everyone laughing."

Bedard said some of this year's auction items include a Monarchs suite for 12; an "ultimate pet gift basket" including a pet adoption voucher, grooming and veterinary services, an invisible fence package and other goodies; Red Sox tickets; sports memorabilia; and weekend getaway packages.

Tickets to the "Rockin' Our Community" gala are $50, and attendees are encouraged to slip on their saddle shoes, press their poodle skirts and come in 1950s costume.

The Upper Room provides educational services for individuals and families with programming that includes at-risk youth diversion, GED preparation, anger management, teen parenting, drug and alcohol programs as well as social activities for families.
