Get down to the `Festival Shindig`.

Byline: Richard Johnson

IHAVE been asked to put a word in for the `Festival Shindig', the party organised by Cheltenham's new Club 16-24 at the racecourse on the evening of the Tote Gold Cup.

Provided the meeting goes ahead-and there are still plenty of people at Cheltenham who seem optimistic it will-the party will be held in the Tote marquee in the tented village, and it starts early, at seven o'clock, the idea being that people will stay on site and have somewhere to go pretty much as soon as the bars close after the last race.

The disco is being provided by the town's Enigma nightclub, and there will be a bar, of course, and various fast-food outlets.

Tickets, which can be purchased through Rebecca Morgan at the racecourse on

01242-501014, cost pounds 10, and all proceeds go to the Injured Jockeys' Fund. Although it's aimed at the younger element, I don't suppose they'll actually turn the old-timers like Carl Llewellyn away!
