Byline: FRANKIE BLAGDEN Of the Campaign For Learning

THE mydoom worm that has hit IT systems in the past month is one of the fastest-spreading virus attacks ever and could turn out to be one of the most damaging.

UK businesses are being advised to step up their network security measures to avoid infecting their company PCs.

The potential damage viruses can inflict on the UK economy has again highlighted the importance of business IT infrastructure.

The roles of network managers, engineers and administrators have become key positions. This is great news for anyone looking for a career in the IT industry where salaries and career opportunities are high.

The best way to get a career in IT is to train and gain industry recognized qualifications. Michael Richards spent 13 years in the Army but knew he wanted to get into IT network support and security. He started attending courses at IT Training centre TECH-Connect and before long gained the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) qualification. Michael now works for a major security organisation as a Network Consultant and says 'I enjoy my role as a consultant as it gives me freedom and responsibility.'

Michael also says the skills and knowledge he gained from training at TECH-Connect 'were vitally important' in securing his IT career.

TECH-Connect is a fully authorised IT training provider with centres all over the UK - London, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester. It specialises in a range of technical IT training from Microsoft and Cisco networking, Security Certified Programme and CheckPoint Security to web design and development.

TECH-Connect runs fortnightly IT Career open evenings where people can view the training facilities and speak to an adviser about the opportunities in IT.

If you wish to attend an IT Career open evening near you or want more information about the training available, call 0845 055 2000, email enquiries@tech-connect.com or visit www.tech-connect.com
