Geronimo gets another shot at MTV EMA.
Filipina singer Sarah Geronimo is among nominees in the Best Southeast Asia Act category at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA). The 26-year-old star is up against NOAH (Indonesia), Yuna (Malaysia), Stefanie Sun (Singapore) and Slot Machine (Thailand). [caption id="attachment_182684" align="alignright" width="201"] Sarah Geronimo[/caption] This is the second time Geronimo is nominated in the same category at the same music awards. She was bested by Vietnamese pop singer My Tam in 2013. On its official website, MTV EMA described Geronimo as the Philippines Popstar Princess, enumerating her having "achieved multi-platinum albums, record-breaking concerts, blockbuster movies, high-rating TV shows, and countless endorsements. Should Geronimo win, she will also have a chance to compete in the Best Worldwide Act category. Meanwhile, rock band Up Dharma Down is vying for the final slot in the Best Southeast Asia Act category. They are competing against Afgan (Indonesia), Agnez Mo (Indonesia), Joe Flizzow (Malaysia), The Sam Willows (Singapore) and Stamp Apiwat (Thailand). For Up Dharma Down to earn the spot, they should get the most number of tweets. Fans would do well to help the group by tweeting the hashtag #MTVEMA #NominateUpDharmaDown from Sept. 9 to 14. The final list of nominees will be announced on Sept. 16.
