Germany : German Railways and Austrian Railways secure attractive night travel offer in Germany.

DB and OBB allow obtaining important night train connections.Doubling the offer of night-IC / ICE

The Austrian Federal Railways (OBB) and the German Railways (DB) today presented their respective overnight train concepts for Germany under a common event. The timetable change on December 11, OBB will significantly expand its night train network. The DB will concentrate on night driving IC and ICE trains and expanding its offer in this field.

"In the future there will be an attractive night travel offer in Germany," said Berthold Huber, DB Chairman traffic and transportation. "The Night Journey concepts of both companies secure a wide range of different travel needs: With comfortable seating in our night-IC / ICE, but also with the classical sleeping and couchette cars of the OBB. The DB will continue to offer every night eight IC or ICE rides. There are also other nocturnal IC / ICE-rides on the weekends and during the summer holidays. Three new major routes in the off-peak times complement the night connections. This also explains the Seating Capacity increases at major commuter routes.
