German President inaugurates Goethe Monument in Tashkent.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited the Goethe Institute to attend the Goethe Monument inauguration ceremony, UzA reports.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his spouse became familiarized with activities of the Goethe Institute and talked to young people learning German language there.

The German President awarded the translator of the German Embassy and the German language teacher with the Order for merits before Germany.

Over 4,000 citizens of Uzbekistan learn German language at the language centers of the Goethe Institute.

The German language is taught at 1,842 schools of the country. More than 377,000 students learn the German.

Above 700 undergraduate and graduate students study at German universities.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Tashkent on official visit on May 27. He will visit Khorezm region today.
