Geothermal energy confirmed.

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY CONFIRMED. Officials of West Indies Power (WIP) said at least two geothermal drill sites on Nevis have the capacity to produce hundreds of megawatts of geothermal energy, reports Caribbean Net News (Oct. 20, 2008). The confirmation came on Oct. 16, hours after the passage of Hurricane Omar, when WIP's Nevis 3 well at Hamilton Estate, came alive with steam. "The geothermal reservoir that exists between Spring Hill and Hamilton Estates contains several hundred megawatts of geothermal production capacity," said WIP's CEO Kerry McDonald.
