Geospatial forum opens on Tuesday.

Geospatial Media and Communications (formerly GIS Development), in association with the Centre for GIS, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning (MMUP), is to host a two-day conference and exhibition on geospatial technology and applications, the Middle East Geospatial Forum 2012 (formerly Map Middle East) at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), Exhibition Hall 1 on April 3-4.

Held under the patronage of HE the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, Sheikh Abdurrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, the forum is one of the most anticipated events in the geospatial arena.

With Trimble as its strategic partner, the conference boasts of platinum sponsors such as Qatar Petroleum, ESRI / Mannai Corp and Kahram (Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp). Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is the gold sponsor. The category of silver sponsors includes names like Ideal Solutions, Autodesk and Intergraph.

The high point of the conference will be the exhibition and the plenary sessions. Based on varied themes, the plenary sessions will witness speakers from around the globe talk about the application of geospatial technologies in various spheres.

The exhibition will have the latest trends and technologies in the geospatial domain on display.

Exhibition timings at QNCC Exhibition Hall 1 on Tuesday are from 9:30am to 7:30pm and from 9am to 7pm on Wednesday.
