Georgian President Pardons 251 Prisoners.

Tbilisi. President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili pardoned 251 prisoners, Chairperson of the State Parole Commission Yelena

Tevdoradze told journalists on Thursday, December 6.

"President has signed the decree on pardoning 251 prisoners and today they have left the detention facilities", Tevdoradze

noted.

According to her, there are 12 women among pardoned prisoners, but no one juvenile has been pardoned.

The State Parole Commission considered approximately 500 cases and recommendations to pardon half of them. The Georgian

Patriarchy and the Chief Prosecutor's Office also gave their recommendations on pardoning to President of Georgia.
