George's rainbow is catch of the day; ANGLING.

DESPITE challenging weather conditions, SCALING DAM returned an excellent rod average of more than four fish per angler as the recent great sport continued.

Guisborough angler George Houston kicked off a fantastic loyalty day by catching his 10 fish limit, including the biggest fish of the season; a lovely 6lb rainbow caught on green/yellow PowerBait paste from the jetty.

Alan Ellison, of Whitby, also took his loyalty day limit from the margins of the east end moor side on Yellow Gulp Eggs tipped with worm. All this action occurred before a bumper stocking of 1,300 fish.

Chris Fall, of Richmond, had a fantastic first visit in which he bagged his eight fish limit with a total weight of 17lb 8oz all caught on Orange Mice Tails during a frantic two hour spell from the east end of the Dam Wall.

Andrew Bogan, of Stockton, continued his excellent season with 21 fish on a Yellow Dancer and returning 13.

His sister Katie also bagged eight on PowerBait Mice Tails, while Whitby angler, Jordan Smurthwaite, caught 13 on a Cat's Whisker and orange/green Fritz on a new catch and release ticket from the east end bay.

CHANGEABLE wind direc-|tions and a cold wind have made fishing unpredictable at JUBILEE LAKES over the past two weeks.

There has been a mixture of typical spring fishing, with the trout taking dries such as black spiders and emergers from the surface film, followed by anglers having to change tact and fish deeper with a black zonker from well down.

The best patterns have been black spiders, snail patterns, mergers, hares ear nymphs, diawl backs, bloodworm and zonkers, especially black.

Teesside anglers caught many of the best trout in this time, with Jeffrey Lawrence, of Eston, taking a 5lb 5oz on a black zonker, Dick Robinson, of Great Ayton, catching two to 5lb and 4lb 9oz on a lumi blob and Guisborough angler Bill Neville taking two to 5lb and 4lb 9oz on a gold snatcher close to the surface.
