General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM), a United States-based automaker, has asked around 40 employees to relocate from south-eastern Michigan to New York City, Detroit News has reported.

The automaker is taking this step in order to work for Cadillac, as the luxury brand establishes its headquarters in the city later this year. The Detroit News has reported, citing Cadillac president, Johan de Nysschen, that Cadillac headquarters will relocate effective June 1 to New York.

Johan de Nysschen said, 'We have given them until the end of February to contemplate. We've arranged now a number of look-see trips for them to get a feel for the lay of the land in terms of housing, schooling, proximity to work, all of those issues.'
