Auto Business News - 29 January 2019

General Motors (NYSE: GM), a United States-based automaker, has reportedly taken the lead in Mexico as the country's largest automaker in terms of vehicle production.

The automaker produced more than 830,000 vehicles in Mexico in 2018, an increase of around 4 percent that displaced Nissan from the top spot, as the Japanese automaker's output decreased by 10 percent in 2018, according to data collected by Automotive News.

Mexico is said to represent more than a quarter of the automaker's total North American production volume.
