Gemma Collins hosting a holiday souvenir swap shop; Barclays is launching its Travel Wallet to let customers convert currencies easily and for free.

Ever bought a souvenir from your travels and regretted it once you get back to the UK? Research has shown that Brits spend [pounds sterling]768.5million a year on souvenirs they never use or never see again.

When they get back to the UK, 63 percent of travellers admit they don't use the souvenirs again.

What's more, one in four only buy them to use up foreign currency they cannot be bothered exhaling back into sterling after their holiday. This adds up to a lot of wasted money every year that could be put back into savings after an expensive holiday. Luckily, Barclays customers will soon have a way to avoid wasting money and putting that extra holiday money back into pounds.

The bank is launching Travel Wallet in its app later this summer, which will allow its customers to quickly and easily transfer pounds into euros and US dollars if and when they need it. It also means they can then transfer money back into pounds easily after a holiday without any conversion fees. This means holidaymakers will not have to take a substantial sum of money out in cash to take on holiday and then deal with the repercussions when they don't spend it all. Gillean Dooney, Head of Current Accounts and Travel Money at Barclays, said: "The build up to a trip abroad is stressful enough without worrying about finding the time to get currency, let alone knowing how much you need to take out. "Travel Wallet means you can strike this consideration off your holiday list and simply exchange what you need, when you need it into either euros or US dollars keeping just as much control over your money when you're abroad as you would at home." The era of the pointless souvenir is over.

In an added bonus, Barclays have also teamed up with reality TV star Gemma Collins to host a souvenir swap shop this Saturday, July 27 in London. The aim is to help out regretful souvenir shoppers who have wasted hundreds over the years on pointless souvenirs get some of their money back. Gemma will be offer to give them money for their items to ease the pressure of wasting so much money.

On the event, Gemma said: "I'm always bringing back ridiculous items from holiday that seemed like a good idea at the time. I probably have enough souvenirs from Marbella to open a museum in a box somewhere - I just don't like to think about how much they've all cost me over the years." You can book your slothere.
