Gearing up to have a go at reckless motorists.

I read the story in 7DAYS (March 11) about drivers who are caught driving at 200kph will now be referred to public prosecution.

While I commend this progress by Dubai Police in tackling reckless driving, why stop there? Why 200kph and not 160kph? That is still 60kph above the speed limit on Dubai's roads and a speed at which the reckless driver could easily kill themselves and/or anyone they might hit.

Even a ban of three months should be enough to get people thinking, though with the amount of thick-headed morons on the emirate's roads I doubt that would make a difference.

Who's going to be 'catching' these speeders - there's still too few police patrols out there.

Of course, we're still waiting for car seats to be made mandatory

Drive safe, Dubai
