Geac Expands Tampa Technology Center.

Business Editors

TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2001

Geac AEC Business Solutions announced today the expansion of its Tampa-based Customer Support and Development Center operations and the debut of Geac AEC's Construction Technology Innovation Center (CTIC).

The expansion of the center involves the relocation of Geac's Wall, New Jersey, development and support operations.

The new CTIC will allow Geac to engineer and deploy all existing and new "flagship" product offerings for the construction industry from a single location. The center will be equipped with the technology to support product development in XML, Palm OS, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft technologies - including .Net, Visual Basic and Windows CE. The expanded CTIC enables Geac to increase its cross-product knowledge and accelerate its efforts on product development and intensified support offerings, including web-solutions.

Additionally, the expansion of the Tampa Customer Support Center will improve response to customer calls and provide new ways for customers to interact with Geac's support team. "A positive support experience for customers remains a top priority for us," said Jim Kissane, General Manager of Geac AEC Business Solutions. He continued, "This expansion is a realization of our commitment for continued improvement to our customer service and support center."

"Geac's CTIC marks an aggressive effort to streamline the production of the high-quality, integrated software solutions demanded by the market and not being supplied by our major competitors," Mr. Kissane added. "By combining two strong development and support groups, we can accelerate our ongoing development of new releases of integrated solutions that improve contractor productivity. Contractors want solutions based upon open applications. They demand these solutions faster than software vendors traditionally roll them out of development. Increasing our critical mass at our Tampa CTIC is a response to this demand."

Over the past year, Geac AEC Business Solutions implemented a new Product Strategy centered on the accelerated production of wireless, Internet and Palm(tm) applications and the expansion of Web-based and Web-enabled software functions. These applications, viewed as tools to improve the productivity and profitability of construction firms throughout North America, are key initiatives. As part of the relocation plan, additional technical and support staff will be added to the Tampa facility, including staff from Geac's Wall application center.
