Gas crisis continue to trouble people of Quetta and adjoining districts.

QUETTA, January 30, 2012 (Balochistan Times): Citizens of provincial capital Quetta and adjoining areas had to face problems due to suspension and low pressure of gas despite provincial assembly resolution to provide gas to people of Balochistan on priority basis. The citizens of various districts of Balochistan faced hardships in intense cold weather due to gas crisis, on Sunday. Residents said the house wives spend entire day in cooking meals as it take hours due to low pressure of gas. People of many localities were forced to use kerosene oil stoves and fire wood to keep them warm and cook meal. It should be mentioned that the Balochistan Assembly had passed a resolution asking the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to end forthwith gas loadshedding in Quetta and other districts of the province. The adjournment motion tabled by Jaffar Khan Mandokhel was converted into the resolution which said that though there were several problems being faced by people, but gas supply cut was the major issue and expressed resentment that the federal government was not taking interest to resolve the issue. He said that during the past six decades successive governments had failed to solve the issues and neglected Balochistan, adding that this attitude had forced certain elements to form separatist groups.
