Gardening: Pot luck for brightest camellias.

Byline: BY TOBY MUSGRAVE

Q Where is the best place to put a camellia in a pot?

MAURICE, Sutton Coldfield

A Camellias are a woodland species and most prefer partial shade and shelter from winds and frosts.

But even more importantly, they cannot abide early morning sun - if they get frosted and the sun begins to melt the frost, it can kill off all the flower buds.

A shady, sheltered, north-facing spot is perfect - and camellias are just the ticket for brightening up such a dull area!
