Garden party to nurture young talent.

Busineesman Roger McKechnie and his wife Eileen are hosting a garden party at their Tyne Valley home on Sunday to raise money for the Samling Foundation.

There will be live music in the garden and paintings on show ( and for sale ( in the house by artists Enrique Azocar, Ruth Stage, Malcolm Teasdale and Julian Vilarrubi.

Roger says: "We have nine children, some of whom have families of their own, so having a lot of people around isn't unusual ( an extra few hundred one day a year isn't too bad.

"We are both passionate about the arts and the work the Samling does and the garden party is a great way to show people what we do in a sociable setting."

The party is from 12 noon until 4.30pm at Dilston House, near Corbridge.

Tickets are pounds 15 or pounds 35 per family and include a barbecue lunch and afternoon tea. Tel (01434) 602885 or log on to www.samlingfoundation. org.
