Gardai call off dig for missing man.

GARDAI in Kerry have ended their dig of the area they were searching for the body of a man abducted more than a quarter of a century ago.

Father-of-four Charles Brooke Pickard disappeared from Castlecove, close to his home on the Ring of Kerry, when he was snatched by a gang of up to five armed and masked men in April 1991.

Following a renewed appeal by his family on the 25th anniversary of his disappearance, information came to light.

As a result gardai began searching a fortnight ago a 40sqm area of bogland.

However, the dig ended on Friday evening without Mr Brooke Pickard's body being found.
