Gang 'fleece rich widow' COURT.

A WEALTHY widow with dementia was "fleeced" out of pounds 500,000 by a gang including her carer and secretary, a court heard.

Catherine Devas, 83, was "wickedly exploited" with her cash allegedly funding luxury shopping trips to New York and pounds 5,000 on haircuts at a top salon.

Prosecutors claim Zandra Mackay, 62, and Deborah Atkinson, 48, headed the scam discovered after Mrs Devas died in 2006.

Mackay denies three fraud charges. Atkinson has admitted three counts including taking pounds 216,000. Three others deny charges. The trial at Cambridge crown court continues.
