Galadari advises on Umm Al Quwain port concession deal.

A deal has been reached to develop and operate container facilities at the UAE's Ahmed Bin Rashid Port in Umm Al Quwain.

Galadari Advocates & Legal Consultants Limited advised the Government of Umm Al Quwain on a multi-billion dirham concession with Hong Kong-based Hutchison Ports Company.

The concession will boost the emirate's economy by increasing the port's existing capacity by establishing state-of-the-art anchoring and loading facilities.

Ziad Galadari, Chairman of Galadari Advocates & Legal Consultants, said: "We are delighted to announce the completion of this deal, which would ultimately help boost the economy of the emirate of Umm Al Quwain."

Last year, Galadari provided legal expertise and advice for a $6.8bn (AED25bn) mixed-use development deal with Sobha Group at Al Sinniyah Island in the emirate.

Ken Dixon, partner of the firm at its DIFC offices and senior lawyer leading the team who advised on the deal, said: "We are pleased to have advised the Government of Umm Al Quwain on yet another significant project that will further the economic development of this unique northern Emirate.

"A key component of the deal was to ensure a commitment by all stakeholders towards a structured development of the port in terms of a predetermined development plan."

The port development agreement comes as part of the Umm Al Quwain Government's ABRP development plan.
