Gal Nauer Architects designs new interiors for Plaza.

After a 30-month journey of extensive research, studies and design work, Gal Nauer Architects has finalized the interior designs of The Plaza, scheduled to re-open in Fall 2007.

The project, awarded GNA by Elad, developer and owner of The Plaza, encompasses the interior design of the new hotel lobby and public spaces, interiors of 178 private condominium residences, 152 hotel condominiums, 130 hotel suites, two model apartments--a $20,000,000, two-bedroom residence featuring baronial library and a $7,600,000 one-bedroom residence--and The Plaza sales office and design center located on-site in the landmark Edwardian Room overlooking Central Park and Fifth Avenue.

Led by principal and firm founder, Gal Nauer, the GNA staff spent over 14 months researching The Plaza's past to develop a design concept that, according to Nauer, "is a celebration of the grand hotel experience, of refined luxury deeply rooted in tradition designed to bring The Plaza back, back to its legendary and iconic status befitting its extraordinary heritage."

GNA's design engages each of the senses to create an exquisite level of luxury and romance at a scale both dramatic and grand. In keeping with The Plaza's original 19th century French Renaissance style, GNA fuses the richly classic with modern elegance.

Sweeping lobby and soaring public spaces embrace the heritage of the grand hotels of the past while incorporating the elegance of contemporary style.

"Our goal is to achieve a balance of respecting tradition and history with modern sophistication. Every element of The Plaza's new design has to have an antecedent from the original Plaza that makes perfect sense in a 21st Century setting," said Nauer.

The private residences, hotel suites and hotel condominiums harmoniously blend generous room sizes with sophisticated, modern design, state of the art amenities and high-tech infrastructure with The Plaza's classic motifs and rich detailing throughout.

Gal Nauer's hand is seen in the design of every floor plan, interior, corridor and the stunning new lobby; in the individual details and their relationships; in the sweeping proportions and carefully considered arrangements that bring The Plaza back to a level of exceptional grandeur and beauty befitting a truly grand hotel.
