GWC CORPORATION ELECTS NEW DIRECTOR

WILMINGTON, Del., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Philippe Brongniart was elected to the boards of directors of GWC Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: GWCC) and its principal subsidiary, General Waterworks Corporation, at meetings held today.
Brongniart is an executive vice president of Lyonnaise des Eaux-Dumez (LED), Paris.
Brongniart has recently been appointed director general over the service companies in the LED group. He was formerly president of Sita, a major subsidiary of LED engaged in waste management and city cleaning services. The LED service sector now under his direction covers all LED activities in the distribution and treatment of water, including GWC's water and wastewater utility services.
Brongniart was elected to fill a vacancy caused by the resignation of Madame Christine Morin-Postel, who resigned to become a general partner of Financier Indosuez. Morin-Postel served as a GWC director since 1982 when LED first invested in GWC shares through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lyonnaise American Holding, Inc. (LAH). LAH currently owns 82 percent of the outstanding GWC common shares. The GWC board will remain at eight members.
GWC Corporation, headquartered in Wilmington, is a water and wastewater utility holding company that is also engaged in non-regulated activities. GWC's common shares are traded Over-the-Counter in the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol "GWCC." The company has 11,066,600 common shares and 300,000 Series A preferred shares outstanding.
