ALEXIS SANCHEZ will spark a PS50million transfer battle between Juventus and Manchester City if his Arsenal contract standoff continues.
Talks have been on-going since August and 27-year-old Sanchez wants a substantial rise on his current PS130,000-a-week deal.
The Chile international will have one year left on his contract at the end of this season and Arsenal want him for another three years.
City and Juve know that Arsenal will be certain to sell if Sanchez is left with just one year left on his current agreement at the end of this season.
There would then be a danger that Sanchez would opt to see out his last season and leave on a free transfer in 2018.
Juventus wanted Sanchez while he was at Udinese, but the player moved to Barcelona in a PS26m deal - where his manager was current City boss Pep Guardiola.
"He is a player who can play in three positions," said Guardiola when he brought Sanchez to the Nou Camp five years ago.
Sanchez has made a huge impact for Arsenal this season in a free role up front, ousting Olivier Giroud as first-choice striker at the Emirates.
But the Gunners are determined to keep him and hope to sign up both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to new deals by January.
