GUN VICTIM ADMITS BURGLARY.

A YOUNG man who was jailed for hiding a loaded pistol came out of prison to confess to a burglary that would otherwise "never have come to light".

Carl Russell, 20, was put behind bars for five years and four months in October last year after he was caught minding a loaded Glock pistol.

The weapon was only uncovered after Russell was shot four times in his own home by two masked, gun-wielding men on New Year's Day.

But he was back before Liverpool Crown Court yesterday after he contacted the police and admitted he had been involved in a burglary before the shooting on December 12, 2009.

Laurence Lee, defending, told how Russell was now determined to turn his life around with help from his supportive family. Russell was sentenced to nine months in a Young Offenders' Institute.
