GUARDSMAN PRODUCTS LAUNCHES FRANCHISE DIVISION

 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Full-page advertising announcing an essay contest with the winner to receive a free Guardsman WoodPro(TM) franchise valued at $57,000 launched the Franchise Division of Guardsman Products, Inc. (NYSE: GPI).
 The business of the Guardsman WoodPro Franchise is to repair, on site, damaged wooden finishes in private residences or commercial enterprises. A trained technician will repair scratches, gouges, cigarette burns, water marks, animal chewing marks, etc. on furniture, kitchen cabinets, banisters, trim -- anything that is wood.  The essay contest invites participants to script a 250-word essay explaining why they want to own a Guardsman WoodPro franchise and why they think they will succeed in their own business.
 The advertising appeared in the Detroit Free Press. The winner will receive a franchise, a new WoodPro van vehicle, two free weeks of training, office equipment and an inventory of supplies. The franchise is to be operated in Michigan, other than in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area where Guardsman is operating a company-owned franchise.
