GTZ introduce Solar Heating System introduced.

CHITRAL, April 15, 2011 (Balochistan Times): To overcome energy crises and to save forest from ruthless cutting, solar water heaters were introduced in Chitral by German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) in collaboration with Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) here on Thursday.GTZ provided 30% subsidy on the solar water heating for first five solar water heater pilot projects. Solar Water Heating (SWH) systems were installed for the domestic as well as commercial use. The distribution ceremony has been held at a local hotel where people from different walk of life were present. GTZ, Technical Advisor, Muhammad Saeed briefed the gathering about the latest technology while Solar Water Heater users shared their experience with the audience. Shahzada Mudasirul Mulk Chief Executive of Creative Approaches for Development (CAD) highlighted the benefits of solar energy system in the area. He said that by using solar appliances, our forests could be saved from ruthless cutting. Responding to a query he said that during winter season when area is totally covered by snow, solar water heaters would provide hot water by electricity. He said that this device is cheap and by using the equipments, the energy crises would be overcomed. Later Muhammad Saeed briefed audience including hoteliers, house wives and people belonging to different segments of life about the use and importance of solar energy.
