GTSI AWARD OF AIR FORCE 'DESKTOP IV' CONTRACT UPHELD

CHANTILLY, Va., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The award to Government Technology Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: GTSI) of one of two Desktop IV contracts by the Department of the Air Force was upheld yesterday in a decision by the General Services Administration Board of Contract Appeals (GSBCA). The GSBCA ruled that the protests of CompuAdd and Apple Computer, Inc. were denied; EDS had previously withdrawn from the case.
R.M. Rickenbach, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "We are pleased that the Air Force prevailed in this protest. The GSBCA's decision allows us to focus on fulfilling our Federal customers' needs for a broad array of price-competitive microcomputer hardware and software products under Desktop IV. We are working closely with the Air Force to complete the test-and-acceptance process."
As was previously announced in early February, the Air Force awarded Desktop IV contracts to GTSI and Zenith Data Systems, the combined potential value of which are approximately $700 million over a three- year period. Desktop IV is a firm-fixed-price, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) procurement providing microcomputer systems to support general purpose application needs throughout all branches of the military worldwide. Up to 10 percent of the contracts' value has been allocated for purchases by other Federal Government agencies.
GTSI is the leading reseller of microcomputer hardware, software and networking products to the Federal Government market, as well as a reseller of UNIX workstations and allied software and peripherals.
