GTE SIGNS AGREEMENT TO MARKET INTERVOICE VOICE RESPONSE SYSTEM

 DALLAS, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- InterVoice, Inc. (NASDAQ: INTV) today announced that GTE Telephone Operations has signed a contract to market InterVoice's RobotOperator(R) interactive voice response system to its large business customers nationwide.
 The RobotOperator answers calls on the first ring 24 hours a day and never puts customers on hold. The system processes routine inquiries automatically, thus allowing service representatives to be more productive on tasks requiring their special expertise.
 "As a major telephone company, GTE has excellent account relationships and a broad customer base. These strengths will ensure that our systems receive wide exposure across the United States," said Keith A. Gyssler, vice president of InterVoice reseller sales.
 GTE Telephone Operations is the largest U.S.-based local telephone company, providing phone service through more than 21 million access lines in portions of 40 states, British Columbia, Quebec, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. It also markets telecommunication products and services and supplies computer software and data processing. GTE Telephone Operations, based in Irving, Texas, had total revenues of $15.9 billion in 1992 and approximately 121,000 employees worldwide. Its parent organization, GTE Corp. (NYSE: GTE), is one of the largest publicly owned telecommunications companies in the world.
 Dallas-based InterVoice, Inc. is a full service voice automation company with additional offices in Paris. It has more than 3,000 systems installed worldwide for voice response, outbound dialing, call directing and audiotex.
