GTE MOBILNET'S MR. RESCUE REACHES OUT TO STRANDED MOTORISTS
 DURING GOOD SAMARITAN WEEK
PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Don't be surprised if one of the more popular characters this Halloween turns out to be a GTE Mobilnet Mr. Rescue driver. The shining knights of the Portland/ Vancouver/Salem corridor will be out on the roads during Good Samaritan Week prepared to "save" motorists plagued by flat tires, empty gas tanks and dead batteries from Monday, Oct. 26, through Monday, Nov. 2 -- at no charge for all motorists, according to GTE Mobilnet. This special service will be available free, as a public service, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ordinarily, Mr. Rescue is available only to GTE Mobilnet customers who dial asterisk-HELP and press the send button.
For more serious problems, Mr. Rescue will call a tow truck or offer the motorist his cellular phone to make other arrangements. Mr. Rescue vans are based throughout GTE Mobilnet's coverage area, which includes Portland/Vancouver, Salem, McMinnville, Mt. Hood and Seaside.
