GTE FLORIDA AND GTE CALIFORNIA TO REDEEM DEBT ISSUES LISTED ON THE AMERICAN AND PACIFIC STOCK EXCHANGES

 STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of a $2.1 billion bond redemption program involving 33 issues of long-term debt announced earlier today, GTE will be redeeming two issues which are currently listed on the American Stock Exchange and two issues which are currently listed on the Pacific Stock Exchange. They are:
 -- GTE Florida 9 3/8 percent first mortgage bonds series S, due 2005 (Cusip 371064-AP-1), listed on the American Stock Exchange, to be redeemed at 103.46 percent of the principal amount on Nov. 8, 1993;
 -- GTE Florida 8 1/8 percent first mortgage bonds series P, due 2003 (Cusip 371064-AM-8), listed on the American Stock Exchange, to be redeemed at 102.26 percent of the principal amount on Nov. 8, 1993;
 -- GTE California 8 7/8 percent first mortgage bonds series Z, due 2008 (Cusip 371046-AZ-6), listed on the Pacific Stock Exchange, to be redeemed at 104.16 percent of the principal amount on Nov. 8, 1993; and,
 -- GTE California 8 1/2 percent first mortgage bonds series Y, due 2007 (Cusip 371046-AY-9), listed on the Pacific Stock Exchange, to be redeemed at 104.05 percent of the principal amount of Nov. 8, 1993.
