GTE ELECTS TO REDEEM ITS 9-3/8 PERCENT SINKING FUND DEBENTURES DUE 1999

 STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- GTE Corp. (NYSE: GTE) said today that it has advised the trustee of its 9-3/8 percent sinking fund debentures due 1999 (Cusip 371028-AJ-0), which are listed on the New York Stock Exchange, that it has elected to redeem the issue at 102.16 percent of the principal amount on March 4, 1993. Holders will be notified by mail today.
