GTE CALIFORNIA PARTNERS WITH INLAND EMPIRE ECONOMIC COUNCIL
TO BRING BUSINESS TO INLAND EMPIRE
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- GTE California and the Inland Empire Economic Council have joined forces to strategically plan the Inland Empire's business future. Toward that end, GTE is donating an economic development computer software program, along with training.
The high-powered program, Forte, developed by PHH Fantos Company, provides data about industry and its trends.
The Inland Empire Economic Council now manages a database of economic development factors using the program. "Forte, with its ability to run different strategies on an area, will greatly enhance our economic development efforts," said Andrew Moore, vice president of marketing/economic development for the Inland Empire Economic Council. He said Forte also has provided IEEC with a database of common questions asked by firms considering relocation or expansion.
"Forte helps us identify the kind of industries that would prosper in our region, and it analyzes which industries are growing," said Moore.
The program will provide national and local data that economic developers use in making plans to attract and retain business. This is an invaluable program as businesses strive to find the most economic and inviting areas to locate their operations.
Utility rates, transportation services and local resources are just a few of the issues Forte users can address with the stroke of a key. Clients also can print out community profiles, lists of companies in the selected Standard Industrial Classification codes or other demographic and economic information tailored to their needs.
"An economic development organization is lost if it doesn't know what industries to target or which ones would benefit both themselves and the region in which they chose to relocate or expand," said Moore.
The program lists an area's industries and shows where they are concentrated. It indicates how new industries fit into the community, and provides pertinent information to assist economic developers' plans to retain industry.
GTE is the only local telephone company that offers a national economic development program. GTE's economic development policy reflects the growing awareness that community investment and business partnering are critical for regional development.
"GTE realizes its future is tied to its communities. As the communities we serve prosper, so will GTE," said Pegi Matsuda, area director - external programs. "Issues consistently ranking high in community leader surveys are education, employment and economic development. The Inland Empire Economic Council can attract and retain business, and to do this, they need to be aware of the needs of business."
Headquartered in Thousand Oaks, GTE California provides a wide range of telecommunications services to 3 million customers in 330 communities throughout the state.
