GSI Technology Announces Immediate Availability of 72Mbit ECCRAMsTM for High Data Integrity Applications.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- GSI Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:GSIT) today announced immediate availability of the industry's first family of commercial, ultra-low error rate SRAMs--GSI's ECCRAMs(TM). The new 72Mbit devices transparently encode and store error correction codes with every write and then read, decode and, if necessary, correct bit errors using a fast ECC algorithm. With no speed penalty, the device automatically corrects bit flips due to radiation particle strikes. Accelerated testing in high-energy particle beam tests shows that the SRAMs can be expected to demonstrate a vanishingly small Soft Error Rate (SER) of less than 0.002 FITs/Mb--a 5-order-of-magnitude improvement over comparable technologies with no on-chip ECC.

ECCRAMs are members of GSI's 2nd and 3rd generation SigmaQuad[TM] and SigmaDDR[TM] SRAM families. They are available in a variety of packages and performance points, and are qualified for immediate volume production.
