GSA AWARDS $30.4 MILLION TELECOMMUNICATIONS CONTRACT TO U.S. WEST
WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Administrator Richard G. Austin of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today announced the award of a 10-year contract with an estimated value of $30,497,478 to U.S. West Communications Federal Services, Inc. (NYSE: USW), of Englewood, Colo., for telecommunications service and equipment at federal locations in four western states.
The award, covering Pacific Zone II of GSA's Aggregated System Procurement (ASP) program, is for commercially available integrated voice and data transmission services and equipment.
When fully implemented, the system will provide enhanced local services to federal users through 15,585 lines at approximately 30 locations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Arizona. Major locations to be served include Phoenix; Tucson, Ariz.; Boise, Idaho; Eugene, Ore.; Portland, Ore.; Seattle and Spokane, Wash. Other locations can be added.
The procurement was conducted as a full and open competition. In addition to telecommunications equipment and services, the contract provides training, maintenance and management of the system for GSA. It uses state-of-the-art technology and will interface with FTS2000, the federal government's long distance system.
Austin said GSA will monitor the program, provide assistance and exercise contract administration and system management.
Offers for eight additional ASP procurements to serve other parts of the country are currently under evaluation, Austin said.
