GSA AND SUPPLY AND SERVICES CANADA SIGN FIVE-YEAR PACT

WASHINGTON, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and Supply and Services Canada (SSC) have signed a five-year agreement to share information and to cooperate in efforts to provide more effective and efficient delivery of supply services to government operations. SSC is GSA's counterpart agency within the Canadian government.
A Memorandum of Understanding outlining the proposed exchange of resources between the two agencies was signed today by GSA Administrator Richard G. Austin. SSC Deputy Minister Nick Mulder signed the document for the Canadian government Dec. 21.
The memorandum establishes a six-member bilateral committee on supply management to oversee the cooperative development of mutually beneficial programs and projects. Under the agreement, the agencies may exchange reports, studies, policy statements, systems design, bibliographies and legislative materials.
It also calls for exchange assignments of personnel at operating or management levels, for joint conferences and seminars, cross training, and exchange visits by government employees, students, and others.
A similar five-year agreement, signed by representatives of both countries in December 1983, expired in 1988.
