GRUMMAN SYSTEMS SUPPORT CORPORATION LOSES CASE WITH DATA GENERAL

 WOODBURY, N.Y., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to a decision handed down by a Federal District Court jury in Boston today, Grumman Systems Support Corporation says it will proceed with post trial motions and appellate processes.
 The jury returned a verdict against GSSC, a New York-based computer maintenance company, for $33.7 million in favor of Data General Corporation (NYSE: DGN), Massachussets. The trial judge added $9 million to that amount. GSSC is a second-tier subsidiary of Grumman Corporation (NYSE: GQ).
 GSSC was found liable for copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets. The verdict was for $27.4 million in compensatory damages for the copyright infringement and trade secret violation and $6.3 million in interest on the copyright infringement. An additional $9 million was added by the judge under a Massachusetts trade secret statute.
