GRUMMAN GETS KOREAN COMPUTER SYSTEM CONTRACT
 BETHPAGE, N.Y., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Grumman Corporation

(NYSE: GQ) has been awarded a contract to modernize the command, control and communication (C3) system of the Seoul Metropolitan Police, and to oversee development of a master plan to expand this new public safety system into the rest of the Republic of Korea, it was announced today.
Work under this $15.6 million contract from the Korean National Police will be done by the Grumman Data Systems Division, which will develop, install, integrate and deliver the C3 system for the city of Seoul.
The computer-aided dispatching system, which will be integrated with an advanced radio system, will speed response to emergency calls with automatic address identification. It will help police assign patrol cars using automatic vehicle location devices.
"This contract is an important milestone in the growth of Grumman Data Systems," said Gerald Sandler, president of the Grumman Data Systems and Services Group. "Today, we are one of the largest computer systems integrators in the United States and we're increasing our share of the domestic market. But the fast-growing nations of the Pacific Rim are a huge new market for what we do best. This effort for the Republic of Korea will let us display our systems integration skills to the other nations of the region."
As systems integrator, Grumman Data Systems leads a team that includes Wang Computer Korea Ltd.; Ericsson GE Mobile Communications of Lynchburg, Va.; and Tacom Systems of Korea. Wang is responsible for the computer-aided dispatching system, Ericsson for the digital trunked radio system, and Tacom for command center displays and engineering support.
The project, which has already begun, will be performed in Seoul. Grumman is setting up a subsidiary in Korea for this contract and subsequent activities. Key people from Grumman's Long Island and other U.S. sites will be assigned to Korea to perform critical systems management, engineering and integration tasks.
