GRUEN TO LAUNCH ENDANGERED SPECIES WATCH COLLECTION AT BLOOMINGDALE'S; TO MAKE DONATION TO NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY FOR EVERY U.S. WATCH SOLD
NEW YORK, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Gruen Watch Company will launch a collection of watches on April 6 at Bloomingdale's in New York City to heighten public awareness about the plight of animals that are perilously close to extinction.
Bloomingdale's has designated eight exterior display windows at its flagship location on Lexington and 59th streets to introduce the timepieces.
To support its commitment to saving endangered species for future generations, Gruen will donate 75 cents to the National Audubon Society for each Endangered Species watch sold throughout the United States. Bloomingdale's will feature the Bald Eagle, Koala, Humpback Whale, Panda and Rhinoceros watches at the launch. Phase II of the collection, which is presently in production, will include the Snow Leopard, Whooping Crane, Asian Elephant and Mountain Zebra.
Each watch in the Endangered Species series carries the words "I am endangered" and "Save me" on the band and bezel to spell out the story. The watches have precision quartz movements, rotating bezel and are water resistant to 100 feet. The colors, selected to complement the pictures on the dials, are olive green and cream, gray and yellow, forest green and blue, light blue and navy, black and red, and beige and black. Each watch is accompanied by a three-year warranty and will retail for $30.
The size and design will make these watches a sought-after fashion accessory for adults and young people alike. According to Gruen, these timepieces also make a statement that the owner understands and accepts the challenge of saving endangered species.
The National Audubon Society stressed that there are more than 900 species presently designated as endangered and the organization will have their representatives in Bloomingdale's to address questions about the urgency of the situation.
Gruen and Bloomingdale's have selected April to introduce this new collection in anticipation of Earth Day, April 22.
