GROUNDWATER TECHNOLOGY, INC. ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES

NORWOOD, Mass., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Groundwater Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: GWTI) today announced that Dr. Lawrence A. Goldmuntz has resigned from his position as chairman of the Board of Directors, which he has held since 1984. Walter C. Barber, president and CEO, has assumed the additional responsibilities of chairman of the board. The company further stated that the size of the Board will be reduced from seven to six directors, and will consist of two inside and four outside directors.
In making this announcement, Barber stated, "When Larry Goldmuntz joined the Board as a member in 1983, the company's revenue was only $3.5 million. His wise counsel and guidance through the various stages of the company's growth and development has been instrumental to the company's success over the past decade. We are grateful for his past and his continuing contributions." Goldmuntz will continue to serve on the company's Technology Development Committee and will act as an adviser to the CEO.
Separately, the company announced the resignation of Ted Owens as senior vice president of International Operations. Owens will continue to serve as a member of the company's Board of Directors. "Speaking for the entire Board of Directors, we are very pleased that the company will continue to benefit from Ted's knowledge and experience. First as chief financial officer and then during this last year as head of our International Operations, Ted Owens has
helped to lead the company through many challenges. Ted's contributions over the past seven years, which range from the strength of our balance sheet to our technology license agreement with Kurita Water Industries Ltd. in Japan, have been of tremendous value. We greatly appreciate his service," Barber stated.
Richard Lewis, senior vice president and principal hydrogeologist for Groundwater Technology, has been named interim general manager of International Operations. Lewis has been with the company since 1982 and has previously served as a regional general manager. Barber stated, "We are pleased that Rick Lewis has agreed to assume responsibility for our international operations while we search for a replacement for Mr. Owens."
