GRILLED DODGER DOGS AND EXPANDED MENU
HIGHLIGHT DODGER STADIUM'S '92 CONCESSIONS LINE UP
LOS ANGELES, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- More grilled Dodger Dogs, new menu items, commemorative cups and expanded concession facilities are just a few of the exciting new changes baseball fans will find at Dodger Stadium. The improvements are part of an effort by Marriott Stadium and Arenas, the stadium's concessionaire, to increase speed of service and satisfy fan demands for more menu variety and convenience.
The most notable change will be a new look for the stadium's concession stands. Sporting bright blue canopies with the Dodger Dog logo, the stands now feature distinctive "Official Dodger Dog" signs indicating whether or not the stand serves grilled Dodger Dogs. Marriott has increased the number of concession stands on each level serving grilled Dodger Dogs, bringing the total number of grilling stands to 18, adding 37 points of sale.
Four new TCBY (The Country's Best Yogurt) stands have been added on the Field, Loge, Reserved and General Admission levels, with a fifth unit in the Food Court on the Club Level. TCBY is available in cups of chocolate and vanilla with a variety of tasty toppings. Marriott has also added 22 new carts throughout the stadium, including two new Jody Maroni sausage carts and four Lemon Twist carts offering a delightful new frozen lemonade treat.
Fans with a taste for something different than traditional ballpark fare will appreciate the expanded menus at Carl's Jr. and Pizza Hut. Carl's Jr. has added Charbroiled Chicken Salad and Chocolate Chip Cookies to its regular menu of burgers, sandwiches, and fries, and Pizza Hut now offers three varieties of Personal Pan Pizzas (cheese, pepperoni lovers and supreme). Along with Carnation Ice Cream, Jody Maroni Sausages and TCBY, Dodger fans have a wide variety of brand-name food to choose from.
"The addition of more stands and carts throughout the stadium will help significantly in reducing the time it takes for a fan to make a purchase and return to their seat," said Carlos Bernal, general manager of Marriott's food and beverage operations at Dodger Stadium. "Never before have Dodger fans had so much variety of quality products from which to choose and so many places to make their purchase."
Several of the new menu items are designed to appeal directly to younger fans. A fun new Dodger Kid's Meal will be a sure hit for families with small children. In addition to a Dodger Dog, chips, soda and prize, the kid's meal box features Dodger trivia and games to keep children busy between innings. Kids of all ages will want to collect a series of three "Dodger Award Winners" commemorative cups. There's also a 32-ounce Big Sipper sport bottle celebrating Dodger Stadium's 30th Anniversary.
"These items are available exclusively at Dodger Stadium, and we think they are going to be a big hit among fans," said Barry Stockhamer, vice president of marketing for the Dodgers.
Cotton Candy, Icees and freshly popped popcorn will also be beginning their rookie year on the stadium's menu.
In its second year as the Dodger Stadium concessionaire, Marriott Stadiums and Arenas is a business unit of Washington-based Marriott Corporation (NYSE: MHS). The company operates food and beverage concessions at The Delta Center in Salt Lake City, home of the Utah Jazz, Reunion Arena in Dallas, home of the Dallas Mavericks, and Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz., home of the Phoenix Cardinals. Marriott also has a joint venture with New Vista Services, Inc., to operate The Orlando Magic Arena, home of the Orlando Magic.
